Thanks Piero, really useful.
NX Studio seems to be maturing nicely, if slowly. I find the simplicity, not masses of options and the lack of "AI"m a bonus. There are improvements which could be made, better preview (no blacking out while sliders move - I have a fairly decent graphics card too) and better masking are some. It would then be all I need. I like I can use Silver Efex (free version) in it, I don't need much more. Let's hope Nikon keep supporting it.
Best

In reply to <a href="https://www.pierodesopo.com/how-i-use-nx-studio/#comment-30">Scott Peterson</a>.

Thanks for taking the time to read it, Scott!

I always shoot raw and then edit in NX Studio.
I used to go with Vivid and adjust exposure or contrast, and call it a day.

Now, I use Auto (which is more balanced than Vivid) to get a good overview of tones and values, and then I apply my custom FC.

I'll write a more in-depth article to go through the entire process, where I also take advantage of other customizations offered by NX Studio.

Thanks,
Piero

Thanks for this great tutorial. I have been dabling with NXStudio since getting my Zf but it's been difficult finding decent user guides. I'm working on my Zf to get more SOOC shots or vastly limit my editing and I'm currently using One1 Photo Raw 2025 which is good but it offers so much I find myself overdoing it and then need to cut back. NX Studio seems to offer what we need for Nikon pictures without all the gimmicks.

Being the Nikon color profiles come over in raw do you find yourself shooting raw and editing those files or do you sometimes use jpeg files?

Thanks again!
